Close the fiction and open The Bible

Every year I make it a goal to read more books. I actually, in fact, love to read and find myself submerged in a book once I read the first few pages. I begin to identity with characters creating an imaginary reality in my mind. The characters I read about become real to me. I imagine myself being there watching from a distance. But in my all readings, while the subject matter is important, nothing I’ve read affected me deeper than the word of God.

This year our youth group at Faith Worship Center, Inc. enrolled in a Youth Bible Challenge. We’re making an effort to read The Bible whether it be a few books or all the books. We’re deciding to pick up the timeless book called the Bible.

We spend so much time reading self-help books, books about dragons and utopia societies. We spend time reading about how to cook, what it takes to make a good marriage or how to spice things up in the bedroom. We read about bullies, secret societies, heartbreak , comedy, and romance. But what do we read in the Bible? How dedicated are we to diving deeper into God’s word? Are we ready to blow our minds?

Let’s close our fiction and non-fiction novels and bibliographies. Open the word of God.

Feed your soul. Feed your spirit man. Keep your fire burning. Don’t let the devil use things to blow it out.
In God’s word we find strength, peace, happiness, wisdom, scriptures for a broken heart, answers to life’s burning questions.

We’re in a new year. We’re in a new decade. Let’s make this year the year we dive deeper in his word.
