I am Lacking Motivation, and I Don’t Know Why
Just like the title says, I lack motivation, and I don’t know why. At first, I thought I was in a funk, but I realized it wasn’t a funk feeling, it was real. I was not motivated to type, write, edit, or record a video. I did not want to do anything.
As I sat in Bible Study, the Pastor began to preach on self-motivation. We’re currently covering the book of Proverbs, and our Pastor made a statement; it is our choice to seek God’s wisdom. Even Solomon encourages us in verse 4 to ” seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures.” Ultimately, it is our choice to find God for ourselves. Just like it is our choice to decide whether we will make something out of our life or not.
God wants us to be successful. He says in His word in Hebrews 11:6 that He rewards His children who diligently seek Him. So as I sat and heard the word on Wednesday night, I said to myself, here is my problem. I know what I want, but I am not seeking God long enough to figure out how to get there properly. Therefore, I start, and I stop because I don’t know what I am doing. I start off excellent and then become stagnant because something inside tells me that this is not the way. That something is Jesus. He’s been trying to get my attention, but I’ve been ignoring the sins.
I am not searching for Him as I ought to, and I then, therefore, do things that are truly not in my heart.
The scripture says in Jeremiah 29:13, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” I need to seek God for my direction. Sometimes we have plans and aspirations, but we are not seeking God for direction. We’re getting up and doing our own thing. To the human eye, it seems like we are winning, but we are actually losing. Soon our moment runs out, and we are back to where we started, nowhere.
So I lack motivation because I need God’s direction.
If you are in a funky place or don’t know which road to take, seek God. The bible says in Matthew 6:33,” But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Don’t stop praying and seeking God for direction. Let Him be the captain of the ship, the driver of your car, or the conductor of your train. Let Jesus lead and watch yourself win because, with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!
