The Longer I Serve Him
Serving Jesus is a choice. Did you hear me? Serving Jesus is a choice.
To give your life to Christ cannot be your “momma’s decision”, it has to be yours. Many people make others believe that they were somehow how forced to serve the Lord. But, they’re wrong. You might have been forced to go to church on Sunday morning or attend bible study on Wednesday nights. Maybe you were forced to wear long skirts and no earrings because somewhere in the bible it says you couldn’t wear things that were too flashy. Your curfew was 9 p.m., and no ungodly music was played in the house. Oh, you can forget about the parties, the only parties you attended was revival service. Yes, you might have been forced to endure some of those things, but that ain’t got nothing to do with Jesus. God created us because he wanted a people that would choose to serve him. He gave us free will. He gave us the power to chose. In Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” God is a gentleman. He won’t break down our doors to get in. He will wait and wait until we come home to Him.
People blame God for everything. They blame God for things that have nothing to do with God. To serve Christ is a choice. It is a lifestyle choice. The bible says, “Freely received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). This gospel of Jesus Christ is free. You don’t have to pay for it. The scripture says that God chose us even before we wanted Him (John 15:16). The songwriter says, ” I love Him because He first loved me.” Jesus loves us and wants us.
In my Christian journey (and I am still growing), I have realized that God is a loving and forgiving God. Not only is He loving and forgiving, but he allows me to be uncut and real to the bone. I can show my 100% true colors without fear, judgment, or retribution. The longer I serve God, the more I dive deeper in Him, I become cemented in his word. I become cemented in my beliefs because I have gotten to know Him for myself. I created a connection with Him that my mother nor father could facilitate. I found God for myself.
To serve Jesus is a choice. You have to find Him for yourself. Do you want to know if He is real? Find Him. Search for Him with all your heart, and when you have searched, there will He be. (Jeremiah 29:13).
