With Age Comes Change of Mentality

How do you know if your mentality is changing? It’s funny the difference a few years makes in your life. The way you think when you’re 16 verse, 18 is significant. When you’re 21, you think differently when your 25.
Just yesterday, I found myself looking at my neighbor’s yard. I loved the way they decorated their porch with stringed lights. They had beautiful pots of flowers and aesthetically pleasing furniture to complement the entire decor. After my complete dissection of their backyard space, I started laughing; I am changing.

My mentality and maturity are growing. The things that I want are not the things I wanted one year ago much less two years ago. I am interested in gardening and house hunting. I have become interested in perfecting my food an understanding the stock market (which hurts my head often). My mentality is changing. I am interested in surrounding myself with people with a purpose and getting ahold of my shortfalls. I am changing.

You see, quarantine allowed us to self reflect. It has allowed us to come face to face with some of the things we have kept hidden because we haven’t had time. Well, we got time now. My walk with Christ has strengthened during this time. I want to know more about God and go deeper in Him. I want to make Him proud.

So the choice to change is real. You’ll sense the change when you come to terms with who you are, where you want to me, and how you’ll get there. As you grow and seek to want to know more, you’ll find your mentality changing. The bible reminds us 1 Corinthians 13:11 “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things,” let’s allow ourselves to grow like butterflies. Let’s flourish like the trees and allow our minds to be changed with Christ in the middle.
