Zach Williams Does It Again On His New Album ‘Rescue Story’

Review of Christian artist Zach Williams album ‘Rescue Story’

Rustic, country, and good ole gospel music; those are the words I think of when I listen to Zach Williams’ new album ‘Rescue Story.’ Whether you like country music or not, you cannot deny Zach Williams of the beautiful penmanship that makes this album powerful. From the first track to the last track, each song tells a story that leads to one message.

Williams begins with ‘Walk With You’ an encouragement to faith believers to continue to walk with Christ in this world full of sin. The next track speaks to letting go of self and following Jesus Christ. The song reminds us to mirror our lives after His. ‘Rescue Story’ which is the single off the album is one of my favorites because it covers the moment where God picked us up and turned us into pure gold. The lyrics are so simple yet so powerful.

‘Under My Feet’ is another favorite of mine. The piano is the sole instrument in the beginning as the strings and other instruments echo in. The opening gives you a sense of intimacy which makes the song feel so personal. ‘Under My Feet’ represents the everyday struggle we face when we’ve overcome and the devil tries to bring back our past. Zach reminds us to kick the devil under our feet and declare victory.

Zach Williams pulled out the big stops with ‘There Was Jesus’ featuring Dolly Parton. This song was the song that made me purchase the CD album. ‘There Was Jesus’ is a beautiful reminder that our heavenly Father is always with us. It’s a true country classic with one of the most beautiful voices reminding us that God is everywhere. He never leaves us nor forsakes us.

Lastly, ‘Face To Face’ brings actual tears to my eyes. You’ve ever heard a song that can be timeless and live on forever. This song is it. Not only is this song the perfect ending to a great album, but, the choir addition in the background takes it to another level. However, as a songwriter, the lyrics are what touches me the most. It says ” Oh, I’m a traveler far from home. I get lost but I press on. There’s a mansion in streets of gold. Where I belong.” Then the chorus says ” When we all see Jesus— no more sickness, no more madness, no more pain.” These words are so powerful because sometimes we get weary of the journey. Sometimes we feel like giving up and quitting. Sometimes we wonder, “How long God? How much longer” and there is no answer. This song touches me because I am reminded that the race is not for the swift but for those who endure to the end.

Yes, this album has been out for a while but in order to really know the worth of an album, you have to listen to it over and over again. I hope you’ll go out and purchase this beautiful work of art that will leave you blessed, encouraged, uplifted and strengthened.
