It is well with my soul 
It is well because I know 
God is with me through dark times 
He never leaves me
He won't leave one sheep behind 

He'll leave the many to search for the one 
Because we are His creation and His love is not partial to our skin or to our race
God loves every face

And in the moments were I feel unsafe 
When I want to run, flee and escape
He lifts up a stand and fights in my place 
I am protected because of His grace

I close my eyes in peace 
I rest and my heart is at ease 
Because God is the author of my life 
He took my book 
He took my shame 
Titled a new chapter 
Where He wrote my name 

Now I look forward 
Not to my past 
Depending on Him to see me through the last breath I take 
When I see Him face to face

I'm pressing on the upward way
It is well with my soul forever and always
