Thank You, Martin Luther King Jr
Revered as the greatest
Made space so I could make it
Not here today, but we celebrate your life.
With it, you paid the price.
A price we appreciate because you answered the call
Where would we be if you didn’t march down the streets of Montgomery
Or stand in the pit of the fire
So that I could relish in the joy and freedom, I desire
You made a choice
To answer the call
A call by God
You could have turned your back and went on livin
But God had a plan for you
A bigger vision.
A vision where color wouldn’t matter
Where people would be able to succeed because of their ability and not because of their color identity
Unselfishly, you choose the narrow road
So millions to come would be able to relish in the joy of freedom
We look back today and say Thank you, Jesus
As we celebrate the life of a man
A man who came and answered the call
Laid down His wants and let God speak to his heart
What can we take away from the life he lived?
That with God, even in death, you live.
