Let’s Crawl Before You Walk

There is a lot you can learn from babies. I have a lot of Godbrothers and sisters, and I’m soon to be an auntie, and there is always something new I learn about babies.

Many babies don’t come out of the womb walking. They first learn to sit up and support their neck and head. After, they know how to hold their balance by standing in one place. Soon after they learn those skills, they begin crawling. They crawl before they walk. They conquer the beginner steps before leaping into the big league of walking, running, skipping, all the things the big kids do.

Babies are smart, and we, as adults, can pull valuable lessons from them. Let’s do as the babies and learn to conquer our beginner steps before jumping into the big league. Let’s crawl before we walk.

Sometimes we want to skip over steps and jump right to the end, but God is saying one day at a time. If you want to be a millionaire, learn to make five dollars into fifteen dollars. If you want to be a bodybuilder, you have to discipline yourself to eat right and make sure you set aside time to work out.

Learn to conquer the first round so you’ll have the tools and skills for the next game. Don’t rush; take your time. The bible says, “the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.” (Ecc 9:11 King James Version) God encourages us that it’s not about getting to the goal first or being the strongest man in the room. Each of us has a chance and opportunity. What we do at that moment is what matters. How we strategize and execute with the time given is up to us. This race is about endurance. The race of life is about endurance. So keep hammering and trust God. Hold on and when opportunities arise, look to God. Use your timely wise and hold on to the end because your reward is in heaven.

Don’t be afraid of crawling because just like babies, one day you’ll be walking.
